I'm not the one to judge whether you're ready or not to take critiques; you are. You did that when you posted your design on a professional website where the whole success of your work depends 1) on people's votes, and 2) ON THEIR CRITICISMS. However, the fact that you want to start an argument over my comments shows you're apparently not ready to handle criticism. No-one has to judge to know that when you call someone a brat for critiquing your work, you might need to grow thicker skin before you post any designs up for public approval.
As a corollary, you cannot both claim that you're versed enough in my PT activity to know that all my comments merely state "I don't like this", and then also claim you're not keeping up with my commenting here. Which is it? I'll answer for you: if you read my comments, you'll find that there are probably about 2 (if that) out the 100+ that actually state "I don't like this" or something similar with no sort of explanation, and they'd be reserved for the absolutely horrible sparkle dogs that look like they were drawn by a 6 year old.
For the record, of course my comment is my opinion, what do you think criticisms are? They're an assessment based off someone's opinion. Once again, I retierate, criticism is: "the act of passing judgment as to the merits of anything" (dictionary.com). What else would I be basing my judgment off, if not my opinion? Added to that, you've taken the 3 words "this is crap" from my comment entirely out of context. It's a sentence clause requiring the whole 2 sentences for it to be understood properly- by turning those 3 words into a statement, you've entirely warped their context and meaning.
As for your design in question, if you didn't fly off the handle, you might have followed my earlier suggestion and simply asked for clarification. Like I said, "may I ask what in particular you didn't like about my design?" goes a long way. And here it is: "this is crap" is a reference to the fact that your design is faeces, not that it is crap= bad. The "in more ways than one" part of the comment, I am embarrased to admit, is just a very lame reference to the fact that 1) your design has "crap" in the title, and 2) it is crap (i.e. it's poo). And that, quite simply, is all it boils down to. It's not rude, it's not an insult, it's just a very lame, bleedingly obvious little quip. There is a compliment: "the face is cute". I thought your design was drawn well and the expression was nice. "but poo? BIG thumbs down from me"- this is the only negative part. I make no secret of the fact that crap turns me off. It's not the design per se I dislike, it's the subject. It's just not my taste, nor is it something I'd buy. "I don't like this" does not appear once in the comment, so I'm at a loss as to why you're railing against it.
You might have learned all this the easy way by simply asking, "could you please elaborate?" rather than by calling me a rude brat.
I suppose I was left out on the better half of your comments then. You left no word of "betterment" for my design. I can take critique and I take it well I don't take well to some one rudely calling my design crap and saying I don't like it" And no I've not been keeping up with what you do on PT, I just happen to see your comments pop up every now and then, and most times it's "I don't like it". Tell me how mature is "This is crap, in more ways than one. The face is cute, but poo? BIG thumbs down from me."? Wow I really benefited from that, now I'm going to go improve my deisgn and make it better. I'm not seeing the critique or anything about doing a better job on my design here. sorry. Saying "This is crap." is your opinion not a criqitue.
No offense but who are you to judge if I'm ready to take good and bad critiques? When especialy yours wasn't hardly a critique. Leave me a worthy critique next time. Thank you and good night.
Blue-Bengal, if you read my comments you'll find many state what I think can be improved in the particular design. For those shorter comments, you'll usually find "I don't like this" accompanied by an explanation, whether short or long. I often don't have time to sit down and write a 2-3 paragraph thesis on what I don't like about a particular design, but I rarely just say I don't like something without some kind of explanation as to why. FYI, even if I DID just "run about the place telling people" I "don't like their designs", that IS criticism. Criticism is: "the act of passing judgment as to the merits of anything" (dictionary.com). PT totes itself as a professional website, in which case, if you put your design up for public approval on a professional website, then you have to expect criticism. This isn't "Patch-don't-hurt-anyone's-feelings-Together". You have to be prepared for your work to be received positively AND negatively. By your reaction to my comments, you are obviously not prepared for this yet.
Secondly, despite stating that you "don't care" if I "like the design or not", that's a lie, since you've taken time out to post on my blog and apparently have been following all my comments on this site (since you claim to be quite up-to-date on my PT activity) . Secondly, if you don't care what my opinion is, why are you here? The whole success of your designs depends on my opinion, along with everyone else's.
If you want to be taken seriously as an artist, which you apparently do, then you need to grow up. I mean that honestly, not maliciously. You need to adopt a more professional attitude and take all criticism on board. Imagine if Boris Valejo called someone a moron because they said they didn't like his paintings! Let's say someone DID say, "I don't like your work", do you honestly think a mature reaction is to leave cynical comments on their profile and play the "well, I don't care what you think anyway, so there!" card? What about taking your own parental advice about about being nice and simply ask for the commentor to elaborate? "Thanks for your comment, may I ask what in particular you didn't like about the design?" works a lot better and I guarantee will get results rather than simply calling someone a brat.
Running about the place telling people you don't like their designs isn't criticism. That's being rude and a brat. It's immature and off putting. I'd personaly don't care if you like ithe design or not but it's not polite to say "I don't like this" Didn't your parents ever teach you "If you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything"?

Oh grow up. You've got to expect some criticism of your work if you put it up for public approval.
I love you too.
