Since not everyone reads the PT blog I'm reposting their facebook message and the blog here.
Basically the modeling for Bonsai Dragon is very very close to being complete. We just have a few little tweaks and we'd like to hear people's opinions.

Do you think we should keep the trunk smooth as it is which shows off the tree's "muscles" or should it be textured a little like tree bark?

Also, should we sculpt the little rocks in the pot OR, keep the inside of the pot smooth and ships with a tiny bag of real rocks that people can spread into the pot?

I personally like his trunk as it is so far, it kinda contrasts the leaves on his head, but if you were to add a subtle texture (say like indenting fine sandpaper to the clay) to the trunk could be killer C; To be sure tho, I would do a sample of how they would sculpt the bark on a separate piece of clay to give a general idea of how it would look before applying it to the original.
As for the rocks, it could go either way. But by having real rocks people could change them whenever they wanted (say if they wanted marbles, etc, instead) making it more versatile with his looks. In the end I trust your judgement Poly, he's looking awesome, and I can't wait till I get him.

Got to say the "fall" version is pretty cool too. Would be perfect for Halloween. Can't wait to see you guys do for "winter" or "spring". but I'm still going for the original summer, since that's what I fell in love with first c:
