Since I was a child I have always loved dragons, and there were dragons in many of my favorite childhood stories. I liked the idea of a friendly dragon, and I always wanted dragon friend of my own that I could hug, so now I am designing one that hopefully everyone will enjoy hugging. This soft huggable plump plush can serve as a pillow, or just a stuffed animal. My ideas are for poseable ears and neck, but floppy arms and tail, as well as a partially bean filled bottom for giving it some weight to pose. Having the beans as well as well as polyfill as well as being over 12 inches long, will make our plump dragon, friend, more maleable to ensure maximum cuddle factor.
This is sick. I love dragons. I would totaly buy this one. I want it !!!
I think this is his brother.... Puff!
Well for this contest, how truly original can it be? I mean these are supposed to be Inspired by favorite childhood fairytales. So it isn't going tobe a completely made up unique character. It is your interpretation of ones that you loved as a child. I believe this fits perfectly in that category. I have very unique original characters and ideas for the ongoing contests and other things planned for the future.
Well I apologize, I shouldn't have told this with so much rudeness. My opinion is just that compared to the originality of most of designs on PT, yours seems to me classical and Disney-esque. Other point : if you intend your dragon to be used by children, the choice of materials doesn't seem very judicious. It will be very expensive, and we all know how children treat their toys... However if you think to make a collectible for adults, remind that there are two collectors' categories : the ones who look for the most original, unique, uncommon, and those who want copies of characters ever existing. Your design is between these two categories, so I fear it wouldn't be as successful as you expect once it will be available. That's only my opinion, I try to be objective, please don't see any agressivity in my words.
hahah awwww hi! Don't worry at all! If you ever beat me at anything I will be thoroughly honored haha. You are an amazing artist, and I can't wait to see your awesome designs!
*waves like a wild thing!!!!* I don't mean to startle you, but HI!
We're planning on submitting some work on here eventually, but we'll be very careful and mindful not to step on any of your toes or get in the way of any plans. Sort of a 'fly next to but not in front of' appearance. You introduced us to this awesome and fun site, and I must thank you for that!
They're right. It is a dragon. And it is lying down. I'm still checking up on the 'green issue', I'll get back to you.
Well I'm glad you like my design, and I appreciate you taking the time to comment. I apologize if I came off defensive, but I wasn't just directing what I said at you. I said what I believed needed to be said, as things started to get negative, "I don't understand why this common, green dragon is so popular." and such like that, that just isn't constructive at all, and I believe things got way off topic. I have supported your design, even though I did not comment, and I hope in the future you will support mine.
I was merely stating what your design reminds me of and why it could make others think of Disney. I certainly wasn't accusing you of outright copying, no need to be defensive about it. And for the record, I did do a bit of research on the design of Elliot, and while your design is obviously different in ways, it just reminds me of him. And I didn't say that was a bad thing either. You don't have to jump down the throat of everyone you don't completely agree with.
Ok... I used to LOVE Elliot, from Pete's dragon, but I'm sure Disney did not copyright the color green for dragons. Elliot was all green, no yellow, and he had pink hair and wings, and a camel looking head. Yes both dragons were fat, but mine has a different body type and nothing on the tail. I'm also pretty sure Disney didn't copyright Fat dragons either. Seriously people, before you start saying this is Disney, or whatnot go research it. That would be like saying, "ZOMG, They copied Puss in Boots from Shrek, from Disney's Oliver and Company! Cuz they are both Orange tabby cats!!" Two different styles and two completely different cats, just like this is from whatever it is some of you think you saw, on Disney. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but i"m sure if this was too close to a "Disney" character it would not have been approved. If it gets made you are not obligated to buy it. However, I'm sure there are a LOT of people who would love a well designed, cute Plush/Pillow.
I can see why people would say this is "Disney-esque." The coloring and body style are very reminiscent of the dragon Elliot from the film "Pete's Dragon." That was actually the first thing I thought of when I saw this design. Though I do like the face of yours better.
Wow... People are really starting to get crazy close to the end of the competition. Just because you wouldn't buy it doesn't mean hundreds of others wouldn't, and if you would have bothered to read the description, you can't get this anywhere because it is the quality, and the way in which it is made. It isn't just any regular plush it is also used as a pillow, hence the beans inside. Personally I have NEVER seen a design like this, or made that way. I also don't know what Disney store many of you have been in, but now adays most of their product is very commercial, and not unique to other more interesting characters. This is also completely done in my own style.
I don't understand why this green common dragon is so successful ; we can find this kind of plush in every fairgrounds or Disney store... I wait so much more from a design on Patch Together.
I like the illustration, I agree with aardvark in that it looks very disney-esque and that there's probably something all ready on the market for a lot cheaper.
This is cute and thought out. However, it isn't something I would personally buy. It reminds me too much of a Disney character and there are already many dragon plushes and toys on the market that could be bought for a fraction of the price this would be. The material list and size would probably increase the price even more.
This would be especially cool as one of those big floppy pillows!
The design is totally cute. Want one right now to use as a pillow lol. Definently a must have.
I'd LOVE one of these! Though I think it should be even BIGGER, pethaps almost big enough to use as a beanbag chair. ;P Either way, I think it's adorable. Reminds me of Pete's Dragon, or the Reluctant Dragon.
I've began to notice that every design you comment on is followed by "check out my plush dragon design" or something along those lines. Really, I think it looks like you commented on their design to just advertise your own instead of giving them a proper comment. I understand you want this to be made, but that just gets annoying. :/ Don't get me wrong, I like the design (like I said before) but... yeah. :S
Wow, It would be cool as a plush! :O
Pfft, it's adorable! 8D Really nice design!
This is such a great plush design.
Love the choice of pastel colours, and the design is heartwarming. :]
Haha, yes! I can definitely see what you mean about this going with my unicorn! :P They're both so dumpy!
I really like this. It'd be nice for this to have a definite bean-y/squidgy belly texture. :D
I think that this guy would make an awesome plush, one I would totally buy for a good cuddling dragon. (As none of mine are nearly big enough to be good cuddling dragons) Though the wire in the neck kinda throws me off, as I had them break in my other plushies before, I say make him all floppy, but the wire won't stop me from a purchase if he goes anywhere.
So cute and plump! I wantwantwant.
Thank you all SO MUCH! I really hope he wins I want one too HAHAHAHA! I guess its sometimes good to design something you would also want yourself.
