well i think the point of this is that it DOES look like mickey... i think mickey mouse is already public dominion, i'm not sure, it has something to do with how many years have passed since his creation, i think it's something neear 80 years.

anyway, what i mean is, as "pop art" you can pretty much get hold of any pop culture icon and bend it and change it and make a different thing out of it.

short pants and a pair of round black ears are what mickey mouse would be if he would be stripped to his most basic essential elements.

so what Thunderpanda is doing here, i think, is not plagiarism nor does he intend to "sell a toy by fooling people into thinking this is the real mickey mouse", but in fact paying homage and at the same time being irreverent to, one of pop cultures most iconic characters.

legendary artist and toy designer Frank Kozik did it in a certain way with his Mickey Mao. i post a pic so you can see what i mean.

i think this is an interesting proposal for a designer toy. like making your own evil version of Hello Kitty or something like that.

yeah, finally voted on your Mickey Pants! i gave him 5, of course. would have given him a 10 if it were possible. i love the idea. feels like something a more cheerful Frank Kozik would have done, and i say it of course as a compliment.

it would be great to make his arms and legs bendy. so you can pose him in all those funny poses you show in the illustrations.

Yes, we thought about the copyright issue - but we accepted it because it's an piece of art by Robocadaver and represents his style. We sure have to check for copyright issues if we would decide to put this ON DEMAND.

I would love to see this satirical piece on my desk. it's an awesome design and I can certainly see it being made, but Disney is well know for squashing anyone they catch who breeches copyright. Maybe make this into a graffiti stencil? ;P

hehehe... it's so funny. just like the spongebob but this one is funnier. although u change d name, it's still recognizable as mickey. no matter what u're gonna do, i believe it's gonna beat that spongebob. =)

yep. it's mickey's trademark but nice try i thought.. and if you realize this creation still stands under thunderpanda's kind of drawing style. :P if the patchwork still allows it to be posted. i think it should be okay.. :p hehehehee..

Even though it is different, Disney probably still wouldn't be happy about it especially since the name is 'Mickey pants' and there is a probably something in their copyright against changing the design of Mickey but him still being recognizable .. It is quite a fun design though.

This is SOO cool, but I'm wondering if it's allowed? :( Disney probs has copyright over the design, even though this isn't exactly Mickey himself.
