The Dreameater's universe is a world which consits of many, many smaller worlds. Each of those smaller worlds is someone's dream, and whenever a being dreams, a new world is created. Some dreamers visit a world more than once, other create new ones every time. But in this universe, space is limited. Whenever it gets too crowded, a Dreameater appears. It's always just one at a time, so nobody knows if there is only this one, or there are more. The Dreameater is the "vacuum" of the dream world, he devours dreams so that there's more space for new ones. But even he has his limits. If the Dreameater is stuffed and has to rest, it happens that some people have to spend a night without dream, simply because there's not enough room to create one for them. Once the Dreameater is out to eat, he makes no difference between an old dream or one that is currently used. If he begins eating a new one, the dream will turn into a nightmare (given it wasn't one already). The Dreameater usually crawls on the ground like a lizard, but once he starts feeding, he stands/sits up. His mask like face always has a blank expression, the eyes on his sides can blink, but are otherwise unable to express emotion. In his normal state he sings. No words, but a sound not too different from the singing voice of a whale. If in pain, he'll let out a loud, high pitched skriek which, literally, would make a living beings ears bleed. It's said that shriek is also capable of shattering a thousand dreams. ((Pegasus is often refered to as a muse for poets and writers in general. I think the inspiration he's said to give isn't limited to writers only, but to other artists and people as well. Thus, the flying horse seemed the perfect thing to to stand for dreams, or in this case one dream, being devoured by the dream eater. And it really could be any color, not just cotton candy pink.))

This doesn't remind me of Spirited Away, in anyway. Would make a lovey, yes darker, figure need on this site. Glad someone could go for something a tad morbid. 5

I love the one where it's eating, but it eating the pegasus is kinda disturbing, and not in a good way. If the pegasus was replaced with something else, it'd be sweet.

I think that both designs are great. However compared to everyone else I think the design where he is eating is much stronger, how he is just devouring the Pegasus. I do also agree with others that it does remind me of spirited away. But I think an amazing design.

It reminds me of No Face  from Spirit Away.
And the dragon Haku in the other drawing.

I hope pink winged poneys  taste good because I would eat them too. Shame they do not exist.

i do like the mouth, but if it was maybe easting something more abstract, like a glowing ball of dream, i think i'd like it more. but the second image is cool, but i do miss the mouth detail.
iridogorgia commented 18th Oct 2009
Second image is an absolute yes. First image is too much like vore for me, and that's too disturbing to contemplate.
Rabids commented 17th Oct 2009
Your other image is intriguing, this one is hardly as interesting and smacks the side of someone's personal fetish
clownface commented 14th Oct 2009
I agree with the people saying the second image is more appealing.
krishva commented 13th Oct 2009
If we're voting for the Pegasus image, I would say no. But the second image looks cool and would make a neat lurky figurine.

Wow this is such a cool creature! Dream eater characters are nothing new, but his design and description are just too cool :D
Sanzoskitten commented 5th Oct 2009
I really can't wait to own this if it's made! I'd sit him right next to my Ghibli No-Face Bank! 8D I like both the references for him, though I do find the second one more appealing.

Love the design, and certainly as an equally interesting story to accompany it. Crossing my fingers in hope it'll get made :)
