This is a lightsaber design that I made for a character I am developing for a Star Wars fan fic I am working on dealing with a member of a renegade Force sect with behind the scenes influence on the events after the fall of the Republic. This sect is considered "dark" by the Jedi despite having the Sith as a mutual enemy; in fact, Darth Sidious and the head of the sect are mortal enemies. I always loved the look of the offset style of sword embodied in such Middle Eastern weapons as the khopesh and the jambiya. I wanted something radically different from the topological forms evolved from a simple cylinder which have become the standard design in this fantasy world. This particular weapon comes from a temple planet that has unsual materials and reflects the maker's environment. Additionally, I envisioned it as producing an invisible blade of UV range light that would cause flourescent substances to light up substantially, an effect that the wielder exploits to intimidate. The hilt is decorated in Sith runes and the materials are hard and durable and resemble obsidian and jet in color and texture.
